What do we do?
We make sure that patients’ voices are represented and heard
We meet regularly and share our experiences, insights and ideas. We support and promote the programme so that other patients and carers can share their stories with us and help us to shape the future of services. Some things we have done include radio interviews, newspaper articles, speaking at public meetings and making films about our stories.
Some of us attend meetings with doctors, commissioners and experts to decide what is needed to improve how care is delivered in the best interests of the patient. We represent the patient’s voice and members of our group are part of the decision-making process. Our vote carries the same weight as everybody else around the table in deciding the future of services and who co-ordinates them.
We are supported by Non-Executive Board Members (NEBs) who each have professional experience and can advise us and act as mentors. The NEBs represent us at board level.
