How much time commitment is needed?

As much or as little as we are able to give. Some of us may have been recently diagnosed or receiving treatment, while some of us may have been cancer free for years. Some of us are carers, some of us are bereaved husbands, wives, sons and daughters. Our level of involvement varies as much as our members. If we’re not able to attend the monthly patient champions meetings, we keep in touch by phone and email.

What activities will I be involved in?

Again this varies according to what activities we want or are able to take part in. Typically, we could be attending public events, talking about the programme with the wider community, sharing our experiences to help people understand why change is important.

What skills do I need?

The only thing you need to bring to our patient champions group is yourself.  Our meetings are relaxed and informal and we aim to make all newcomers welcome.

How do I join?

Email Bikki Gray or call 07808 201 586 to find out more and sign up to become a patient champion.

Our mission is to improve patients’ experience of cancer and end of life care services by coordinating each step of the patient journey.
